This role would typically involve working in a team developing and producing radio and podcasts. This will include live and pre-recorded programming, including use of studios at broadcasters including the BBC.
The person doing this job would need to have knowledge and understanding of the radio / audio shows (programmes) they wanted to produce, the music they feature, the relevant radio network and their audience and have previous experience creating outstanding social media and video content.
They would need excellent audio editing skills – using software to put together and improve the sound of the programme. In addition to regular programme production, they would be expected to contribute to wider creative projects in radio, TV, social and other content production.
Responsibilities would normally include:
• Creating music programming
• Music reporting
• Studio production
• Talent management (looking after the programme presenters)
• Client liaison (dealing with the people who are paying for the programme)
• Social media management
• Scriptwriting
• Generating ideas for new programmes
What makes a good Junior Audio Producer?
• Extensive experience as a network/national radio assistant producer
• Used to working in a team and supporting co-workers, as well as managing assistant producers
• Strong editorial judgement and knowledge of any editorial guidelines which are required by the people paying for the programme
• Excellent talent management skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Strong social media management and strategy skills including a good knowledge of relevant photo editing software
• Strong video editing skills
• Creative flair for ideas generation, both for the daily show and as part of the bigger picture for the show and network
• Excellent organisation skills
• Strong client liaison skills
